Wessex Water is the regional water and sewerage treatment company serving the majority of the South West of England such as Somerset, Dorset and Bristol. There has now been good news for community groups in these areas as grants of up to £10,000 are available as part of Wessex Water’s Money Matters scheme.
Community groups such as debt advice agencies, schools/sixth forms/colleges, parish councils, social enterprises, youth clubs and other community groups based within the areas classed as the Wessex Water region have until the end of June to apply.
To apply, the organisation must have some kind of financial or money management plan in mind to show to the water company. If it is already in effect, the group will still be eligible.
Wessex Water wants to help people understand financial matters and help them make effective decisions regarding their money. The Money Matters scheme is part of tap, a Wessex Water incentive offering a range of schemes and practical help for customers of the company who are seen to be in financial difficulty.
To apply, complete the online application form and submit one side of A4 describing your proposed project. You can also include other supporting materials such as a detailed budget if you so desire- just specify within the application whether you want these back or not. The panel meets twice a year, this time in July to decide who is successful.
