Residents in Ipswitch Angered by Time Taken to fix Anglian Water Leak

Anglian Water has received a bout of complaints from its customers in Ipswitch after it failed to immediately address a notable water anglian-water-contact-number - Copyleak.

The leak was said to be situated at the junction of Austin Street and Stoke Street in the little town of Ipswitch, east of England. Residents say that the leak went on for four days and was reported three times before Anglian Water took visible action to fix the problem.

One resident of Austin Street described the leak as a “constant stream of water”, and said it raised a hazard for motorists coming around the junction. He claimed that it had even caused some instances of ‘fender benders’.

He also added that the leak was “an affront to bill-payers”, contributing to a “massive waste” of water in the area that residents couldn’t afford.

“How can they justify the price of our water bills when they cannot be bothered to fix a leak – that’s what we pay out bills for,”

the 48 year old lorry driver said.

The town’s councillor Bryony Rudkin, however, claimed that she had not received any complaints from the Ipswitch residents and had had no knowledge of the leak.

Upon notification, Ms. Rudkin said she was concerned to hear there had been an accident and vowed to investigate the issue. She also added that she expected things to be repaired as soon as possible.

Anglian Water, meanwhile, said that the four day delay was because of the company wanting to carry out the work outside of peak times. A company spokesperson, Emma Staples, said Anglian wanted to thank its customers for reporting the leak and apologised for the subsequent delay.

“We had to schedule the work to take place outside peak times to minimise disruption to traffic in this busy part of town,”

she explained.

The leak was repaired overnight, four days after initial resident complaints.

Meanwhile, Anglian Water has come up against resident agitation elsewhere thanks to a new water pipe project in St Neots.

The project, which started in May, is expected to take 6 months to complete and residents have been warned that disruption to services is going to be ‘likely’. The town’s water supply will be switched off briefly when making the swap to the new pipes and residents have been told they will be informed nearer the time of when this will happen.

The company has also suffered a major disaster in Holbrook, where a burst pipe caused a bus to sink into a large hole causing severe flooding and damage to the road structure.
